Tips for new mothers: getting back that ideal body shape

Getting back that ideal body shape is among the priorities of most mothers. The insatiable appetite to eat most of the time while breastfeeding the babies make mothers gain too much weight. Sitting on their favorite chairs for a longer period while caressing their babies also cause obesity. Getting fat and heavy is really different from that figure their husbands desired during their wedding day. Aside from the undesirable body contours that most mothers are now getting, their greatest nightmare is when they get less and less invitations from their husbands for a romantic date outside.

When the babies could already be left with their baby sitters, it is time for the mothers to act and get back that ideal shape! They can start with basic exercise routines that could be done at home. How about doing some dancing or aerobic exercises at the comfort of their entertainment areas at the beat of their favorite music? Even stretching at the living room if they have no video and music room could just serve the purpose.

Tending the flowers would also burn those excess fats in their bodies. Even if the flower garden is inside a greenhouse, the activity and the controlled temperature will still cause the mothers to perspire. If they have the feel, why not spend more time under the sun? They can go to their lawn and start its makeover. Mother should just be sure, though, that they follow the safety guidelines to avoid hurting themselves.

Joining fitness gyms with the chance to use its equipments is also recommended to get the ideal body shape. Before joining any of these gyms, it is best to find first the programs they offer, the gender they cater to, how much the program may cost and the amount of time to complete the program.

Fitness gyms are also holding various contests that are added motivations to mothers. Although mothers are crazy in getting back their ideal shape, there is also that urgent need to return home as fast as they can to attend to those home chores before their husbands and children are back. Deciding which gym is accessible from home must also be an important factor.

Getting back the ideal shape also requires much discipline. Most mothers fail to accomplish their objectives because they lose the determination even at the middle of the program. Others just do not want to get out of their comfort zones. They are just lazy and they easily go back to those activities they are most comfortable such as watching their favorite movies while crunching those snacks like children do, or taking a nap when their babies are asleep. Patience and determination guarantee success; being moody and lazy would never bring the body figure mother want to have again.

Another way is eating the right food that provides the level of nutrition that will make the mothers healthy. Cholesterol free foods will decrease the risk of heart attack and fat free foods decrease the chance of obesity. However, in order to really get back that ideal shape, they must always avoid eating too much food especially goodies and snacks. Being determined to shun away from voracious eating is always a plus.

Finally, getting the ideal body shape does not only gain back the admiration and praise of their loved ones, but most importantly, it really helps the mothers stay healthy, live longer and enjoy life with their husbands and children. Mothers will then truly follow the rules of positive parenting from then on.

So mothers, start kicking now and get the ideal shapes you always desire!

Planning for a baby shower

Planning for a Baby Shower

A baby shower is a popular tradition in the United States and other territories influenced by American culture. It is intended to give the new parents a chance to receive gifts for their expected baby such as clothes, rattles, booties, feeding bottles and others. This will also serve as an opportunity to wish the new parents a healthy relationship and boost their confidence in rearing their family. In other countries, baby shower is held when the baby is already born.

Like all other events, holding a baby shower needs much thorough planning. The new parents would surely want their guests to enjoy, and most likely, they do not want themselves to be disappointed by a baby shower which fails.

In planning a baby shower, it is advisable to seek help from other parents who have experience on this. Also, articles on how to plan a baby shower are available, what is needed is a slight effort to search the subject.

Basic preparation includes the venue of the celebration, the exact time you want it to happen, the foods and drinks to serve to the guests and the number of guests you are going to invite. These will determine the budget, who are to be invited and the number of days involved in the leg work.

The meat of the event is the details. How will the new parents incorporate fun to the baby shower? What would be done to make the guests feel that they are all part of the celebration? How will the baby shower become a very memorable event? Remember that as the newborn will grow, he will surely love to see his own shower!

Having a theme for a baby shower is a good start. If it is already known that the expected baby is a boy or a girl, then decorate the place with colors suited for the baby’s sex. This includes the drinks and toppings for the food. To let the guests feel that they really part of the event, why not request them to wear attire of the same motif? I know that they will be willing to do so. If the sex is not determined yet, then I suggest neutral colors be used.

In arranging the tables and chairs, set them in a round fashion so that everybody has the chance to see the mom opens the gifts. In this way she knows that she and her baby are the center of admiration and support and this will surely lift her spirits.

It would be pleasant if the host will not limit herself from receiving gifts. She in return, may give souvenir items to her guests. If this is done in wedding celebrations, then this is most welcome in a baby shower. In this way, a bonding could have well established between the new parents and their guests.

Another important thing is that the new parents should be the ones attending to the guests. They should welcome their guests when they arrive and thank them when they leave.

It is also appropriate that a guest book must be provided for the guests to write their messages. Photos if possible must be taken by a professional photographer. In this way, the photo album and the guest book will remain a lasting memento for such occasion.

If the budget is quite big, why not hire a baby shower coordinator to do all the details?

Having a baby shower is an important celebration and a right start in raring a family. It must be meaningful and enjoyable enough for the new parents and their guests. It is a fantastic opportunity to welcome the baby, and for sure, a lasting gift to God’s most loved creation.

How new parents should get enough sleep

Along with the birth of your baby comes the dilemma of having less sleep. You seem to feel like the walking dead throughout the day because of too must exhaustion in tending your newborn the night before. Most likely, your baby had always wailed and became restless. Too much stress and less sleep would surely destruct every activity you had carefully planned.

You should have enough sleep, but how will you make your baby sleep soundly? The key is to find the right baby sleep solution.

One solution is to sleep when your baby sleeps. You can do this by doing all your household chores while the newborn is awake. This means doubling your time in completing your tasks because your baby might sleep earlier.

Another way is to help him develop a sleep association so that your newborn can sleep on his own without a struggle. This involves those things that will put him to sleep, such as a pacifier or a stuff toy. This needs, of course a transition and many trials, as you have to introduce new items into your child’s sleeping place. Most important, make sure that these objects will not pose danger to your newborn.

Switching on a nightlight or turning on a lamp will reduce fear in the new born baby and it is a proven baby sleep solution. This will reduce the shadows in a room and when the child wakes up, he or she can see what's in the room; nothing is hidden. But make sure that the light is not too bright, as that will disrupt sleep.

Another way to help your newborn sleep is to use white noise or a continual sound in the background. This can help soothe the sense. Examples of this are burbling creek, surf on the beach, a fan and good music.

Effective also to make the baby sleep is to make his room comfortable by painting it with bright, cheery color and put up wall stickers of favorite cartoon characters. If it fits your budget, place furniture that the child likes. Sometimes a theme can help, like a princess or superhero style.

Most likely, your folks would advice the use of essential oils as another baby sleep solution. They are effective means to calm newborns down and give them quality rest. Some of these are vanilla that lets the newborn to respond well to its comforting sweet aroma; roman chamomile to relieve stressful moments, calm tantrums or soothe after nightmares; lavender essential oil is known for its soothing qualities and the lavender oil which is also known as ‘a medicine chest in a bottle.’ The aromas of sweet citrus oils will brighten the newborn’s sour moods. Finally, there's tea tree essential oil which is also a natural antiseptic for cuts and scrapes.

Finally, resort to cost-efficient, reliable and proven techniques that can help you put your baby to sleep. The Baby Sleep Solution, for instance, can be a great, if not the greatest, way to put your baby sound asleep all throughout the night. This product does not require you to pore over a hundred pages of information. Instead, all you need to do is listen to an audio program and in as little as 35 minutes, you can be well on your way to well-deserved rest and sleep.

Sleep is what a new parent needs. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask for a little help. By getting more rest you will be able to carry out the daily tasks and takes pride of having cared for your baby.

How new parents should care for their new baby

Can you imagine a certain day when exciting news is flashed in the neighborhood: “Joe and Susie’s baby is born!”

The new parents would have choked with high praises and congratulatory messages. But when these excitements subsided, they began to feel afraid...and why wouldn't they? They've already embarked on a new challenge --- on how to care of their new baby!

Yes, taking care of a new baby is both a challenge and a dilemma for new parents. Inadequate parenting skills, or the lack of it, is viewed as a vital factor in some infant illnesses, or worst, of infants’ accidental deaths. Government regulations make it mandatory for the newlywed couples to attend seminars on parenting skills. These are also aimed to develop confidence and values among the parents, foremost in mind, that a new baby has his rights, and he needs the care of the parents.

The good news is that it is quite simple to take care of babies, including the newborn.

Big industries have discovered that parenting skills could be taught through the labels of baby products, and in helping these parents, these companies become partners in caring for the new babies. So you see, these new parents are basically never alone.

Below are some tips on how new parents can take care of their new babies:

Diaper rash

The skin is irritated by urine or stool. In the case of irritation by diarrhea, the latter causes the acid in the alcohol to burn the skin. This can be prevented by ensuring that urine is well absorbed by the diaper, the stool must be dry, and an immediate change is needed when the diaper becomes wet.

Preventing flat spots on the heads

New parents must understand that the babies’ weak muscles force them to turn their heads to one side when placed on their backs. This will result to flat spots on the heads because the babies’ skulls are very soft and the bones can be affected by pressure, especially if they remained on the same position for a longer time. Getting a flat head can be prevented by constantly changing the position of the baby. Since babies tend to look at interesting objects, you may either change the position of the crib, or the object of interest.

Sleeping environment

Ensure that the baby has a good sleeping habit by placing him in an environment conducive to sleeping, such as the right room, right sleeping position, the kind of crib and so on. Further, let the baby sleep on his back to make night-time breastfeeding easier and prevent crib death.

Bathing your baby
A full bath is alright for a new baby. If you will use soap, make sure it is mild and unscented. Then rinse the baby well to prevent irritation.

New parents must strive to learn more parenting skills to ensure their baby’s welfare. Having mastered them, I think another new baby will again stir excitement, this time without fear :)

Myths about breastfeeding

Some Myths About Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding must have started when the first child was born to a woman. We could have imagined the mother in panic when the child cried so hard - she knew that the baby was hungry, but she did not know what to do. The woman followed instincts, lifted her baby to give him warmth and comfort, pressed him against her breast and having found the perfect niche, began to suck the rich milk from his mother.

For generations, myths surrounding breastfeeding had shunned away some mothers and opted for infant formula. It is disappointing to note that despite efforts of the government to educate mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding, it has been continuously avoided because of the belief that breastfeeding are that harmful. Here at the Tips for New Parents blog (http://www.parentstips.blogspot.com), we present to you some of the myths about breastfeeding:

Breastfeeding is easy to do. New mothers have not foreseen that breastfeeding involves delicate handling of the baby and must consume most of their time sacrificing their other activities. Those who have other priorities than tying themselves to the care of their babies, have resorted to bottle fed their babies under the care of nannies.

Mothers who breast-fed had observed that breastfeeding countered the effects of depression. Breastfeeding mothers, especially those that are not gainfully employed, felt the pressure of staying at home in order to attend to the needs of their babies. They lose the chance of involving in activities that they are used to, cannot mingle with peers, and much more, feel the fang of being left behind while the rest of the crowd are moving on. But being near with their children had given them the strength to face all odds and positive outlooks in life.

There is not enough milk for the baby during the early days after birth. Some have opined that mothers have less milk at the start of the breastfeeding stage, while the baby, who has just started to suck, is ravenous for the mother’s milk. Studies have shown that the baby is hydrated while in the mother’s womb via the placenta, hence, mother’s milk is just enough to feed the infant while he adjusted himself.

T
here is no need to breastfeed if only to provide protection against infection. It is believed that an infant is fragile only during the first few months and can develop the needed immune system as it grows which can be supplemented by medicines. Although it is true that the infant has the greatest need for protection during its early months, its need will continue as he grows especially that full maturity of his immune system is attained at least 2-4 years, and a continues breastfeeding would provide the needed anti-infective factors and immunomodulators as long as breast milk is produced.

Breastfeeding causes over dependence on the mother, thereby forcing the mother to continuously spend more time to her child. Although the earliest time of weaning is about 2 ½ years, some mothers are afraid that they have to baby sit continuously after this period because their child does not want other’s care. On the contrary, experts in child care emphasized that breastfeeding tends to make the children more independent than their peers who are bottle-fed, and can therefore devote their times in other responsibilities.

Breastfeeding causes maternal sore nipples. This is alarming to mothers who are conscious of their looks and afraid to get hurt. Maternal sore nipples are caused by ignorance on proper latch-on, poor positioning, and use of unnecessary washing, lotions and creams.
